Wisdom and Our Thoughts

I have always tried my best to let wisdom guide my thoughts and actions. I said to myself, “I am determined to be wise.” But it didn’t work.

Ecclesiastes 7:23 (New Living Translation)

I tested everything in my search for wisdom. I set out to be wise, but it was beyond me, far beyond me, and deep—oh so deep!

Ecclesiastes 7:23 (The Message)

All this I have proved by wisdom. I said, “I will be wise”; But it was far from me.

Ecclesiastes 7:23 (New King James Version)

I just bought a new GPS device for my car. A big part of the rationale is that, like most men, I really don’t like to ask for directions! And I’d rather not have to remember to print off directions before I head out the door to a new place. And, if I just try to figure it out as I go, that method doesn’t really work. I need accurate information direct from the source.

If I try to figure out the road to God on my own, that isn’t going to work either. I really need accurate information direct from the divine Source. Fortunately for all of us, He’s freely available — anytime and anywhere. That’s the best investment I can ever make! –JP
