Self-Esteem
|
As I looked at everything I had worked so hard to accomplish, it was all so meaningless–like chasing the wind. There was nothing really worthwhile anywhere.
Ecclesiastes 2:11 (New Living Translation)
Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done
and what I had toiled to achieve,
everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind;
nothing was gained under the sun.
Ecclesiastes 2:11 (New International Version)
Then I took a good look at everything I’d done, looked at all the sweat and hard work. But when I looked, I saw nothing but smoke. Smoke and spitting into the wind. There was nothing to any of it. Nothing.
Ecclesiastes 2:11 (The Message)

I don’t quite understand what this scripture means for us. Is it an example of how we should not depend only on our earthly accomplishments and possessions?
That is how I see it James. We need to try and take a look at our life from a wider point of view. Possessions and accomplishments here are just fleeting and we can’t take them with us. We need to strive for a close walk with our God and maker and look forward to the day that we can be with him.
This verse just pointed me in the direction I need this morning and I hoped it might help a few others as well.
How Self-Esteem Affects Our Confidence Self-belief gives us the confidence to accept failure. It teaches us the importance of positive thinking. Those who have self-esteem don’t talk about failures; instead, they try to find out why they did not succeed.
