Lord, my heart is not proud;
my eyes are not haughty.

I don’t concern myself with matters too great or awesome for me.
But I have stilled and quieted myself,
just as a small child is
quiet with its mother.

Yes, like a small child is my soul within
me. O Israel, put your hope in the LORD — now and always.

Psalms 131:1-3 (New Living Translation)

My heart is not proud, O LORD,
my eyes are not haughty;
I do not concern myself with great matters
or things too wonderful for me.
But I have stilled and quieted my soul;
like a weaned child with its mother,
like a weaned child is my soul within me.

O Israel, put your hope in the LORD
both now and forevermore.

Psalm 131:1-3 (New International Version)

God, I’m not trying to rule the roost, I don’t want to be king of the mountain.
I haven’t meddled where I have no business
or fantasized grandiose plans.

I’ve kept my feet on the ground,
I’ve cultivated a quiet heart.
Like a baby content in its mother’s arms,
my soul is a baby content.

Wait, Israel, for God. Wait with hope.
Hope now; hope always!

Psalm 131:1-3 (The Message)
