Quiet - Psalm 62:5-6

Published by Kent at 7:10 am under Scripture

Let all that I am wait quietly before God,
for my hope is in him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress where I will not be shaken.

Psalm 62:5-6 (New Living Translation)

Find rest, O my soul, in God alone;
my hope comes from him.

He alone is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.

Psalm 62:5-6 (New International Version)

God, the one and only—
I’ll wait as long as he says.
Everything I hope for comes from him,
so why not?
He’s solid rock under my feet,
breathing room for my soul,
An impregnable castle:
I’m set for life.

Psalm 62:5-6 (The Message)

Millions of us each year deal with the effects of bouts of depression in our lives. After all these years of medical advances in this field of research, much is not know about this state of mind that overcomes many. The following recently written poem presents a point of view in dealing with this sickness of the mind. Any feedback in your own personal experiences in dealing with this depression in your own personal experience would be appreciated by your sharing with us. The poem to follow on the next post.

“The Dark Angel Amidst Us” copyright 2008 John J. Rigo upcoming poetry book (book three of the ‘Amidst Series’) “Passion Amidst Apathy”

Amidst us stands the Dark Angel,
joyful at each victory gained against us.
A free will to choose Good or Evil,
a gift from our Loving God,
is a part of our daily struggles.
The weapons of the Dark One are many.
Darkness that covers our mind with sorrow
    in our latter years,
to place us in a void of hopelessness,
    and fear.
Lost of health, loss of loved ones,
bringing doubt to our aging minds.
Are we to be snatchd from His Love at our
    Eleventh hour before death?
Render your darkness to God’s Love and Power.
The Lord will lift you above this Evil.
Never fear, never give in to distrust nor hate,
in the darkness that attacks you.
The Dark One’s only reward in eternity is suffering,
while yours, will be the Light of God’s Love forever.

I hate the fact that this verse has the word “wait” in it.
My daily prayer usually tends to be “God give me patience and give it to me NOW!”.
What I’m saying is if I’m waiting for one aspect of my life to get going on, then why the hell is everything else seemingly put on hold most of the time as well?
sorry if it’s not the uplifting kind of thing you’re used to hearing, but I believe in being honest.
