There are “friends” who destroy each other,
but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.

Proverbs 18:24 (New Living Translation)

A man of many companions may come to ruin,
but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

Proverbs 18:24 (New International Version)

Friends come and friends go,
but a true friend sticks by you like family.

Proverbs 18:24 (The Message)

  1. Peter says:

I have a friend or someone who used to be a close friend.

This is someone who i worked with regularly and over 3 or 4 years and we became close friends.

Unfortunately, i developed feelings for this friend in the last six months or so and at first did not understand them them. She had such an impact on my business and personal life over time especially in recent months i began to love her.

There came a point where I selfishly felt the needed to disclose these feelings. I could not sleep. Almost the moment i did she not only was not my friend any longer she also was not my client or strategic partner in my business.

I have destroyed a very precious thing to me as they say with the “best intentions” and i do not believe i can piece it back together. If anyone has thoughts i would enjoy the feedback. Any further communication with this person seems to make matters worse. The dream of a life long friendship has become a nightmare.
