Depression – 1 Peter 4:12-13
|
Friends, when life gets really difficult, don’t jump to the conclusion that God isn’t on the job. Instead, be glad that you are in the very thick of what Christ experienced. This is a spiritual refining process, with glory just around the corner.
1 Peter 4:12-13 (The Message)
Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.
1 Peter 4:12-13 (New King James Version)
Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. Instead, be very glad—for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world.
1 Peter 4:12-13 (New Living Translation)

I he brings you to it, he’ll bring you through it.
This was perfect for me right now. It seems as though everything is going wrong. But God will never give us anything we can’t handle!
Strange is a great way to put it. I went hiking off a trail this morning, to clear my mind and talk with God, since my fiance and I may be splitting up due to Christ entering my life last year, and she doesn’t want to accept I’m a new person. Strange indeed.
Not only did I feel peace(and somehow reach a waterfall overlooking the Potomac River!), but by reading through His word and setting things in His hands, I am not as afraid or sad anymore… but my heart still aches for her like I’m sure hers secretly aches for Christ – I hope and pray for that every day.
God is definitely good and nothing is impossible with Him!!!! Life is painful, but with Christ as my Lord I have complete assurance that things will go as He planned, and I will get to see Him one day. I can’t wait to see Him point out every time in my life I was scared, alone, and depressed… but was with me every moment.
Quote from “Rainbows Amidst Storms” copyright by John J. Rigo 2005
“I Am Overcome in the Joy of Your Love”
“When the darkness of days were before me,
You were my Light, when no hope was seen.
You were my Friend, when all turned away from me.
In the depth of my deepest sorrow and loss,
You helped me rediscover the joy of your
eternal love for me.”
