He lifted me out of the pit of despair,
out of the mud and the mire.
He set my feet on solid ground
and steadied me as I walked along.

Psalm 40:2 (New Living Translation)

  • He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
    out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.

    Psalm 40:2 (New International Version)

  • He lifted me out of the ditch,
    pulled me from deep mud.
He stood me up on a solid rock
to make sure I wouldn’t slip.

    Psalm 40:2 (The Message)

Ever feel you can go no further? At such times
all God asks is that you keep walking. He knows
    when to rescue you.

Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to
enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know
    it all!

    Romans 12:16 (New Living Translation)

  • Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind
on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in
    your own opinion.

Romans 12:16 (New King James Version)

  • Get along with each other; don’t be stuck-up. Make friends
with nobodies; don’t be the great somebody.

    Romans 12:16 (The Message)

As a perfectly blended quartet plays in flawless unison, so God
wants his children to work together. Beautiful music is best made
when each musician plays his or her part.

  • Stop judging by mere appearances, and make a right judgment.

    John 7:24 (New International Version)

  • Look beneath the surface so you can judge correctly.

He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.

    Titus 3:5 (New Living Translation)

  • Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.

Titus 3:5 (New King James Version)

  • But when God, our kind and loving Savior God, stepped in, he saved us from all that. It was all his doing; we had nothing to do with it. He gave us a good bath, and we came out of it new people, washed inside and out by the Holy Spirit.

    Titus 3:5 (The Message)

God’s great mercy caused him to save you. In spite of what you’ve done, he couldn’t stand living without you! He even gave you his own holiness!

a heavenly hope. Keep telling him about your struggles, and he’ll
    keep holding you up.
