Identity of Jesus
I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer remain in the dark.
John 12:46 (New Living Translation)
I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.
John 12:46 (New King James Version)
I am Light that has come into the world so that all who believe in me won’t have to stay any longer in the dark.
John 12:46 (The Message)
As a soldier follows his captain, so we should follow Christ, our commander. As a slave follows his master, so we should follow Christ, the Lord. As we follow the advice of a trusted counselor, so we should follow Jesus’ commands to us in Scripture. As we follow the laws of our nation, so we should follow the laws of the Kingdom of Heaven.
Trust in the Lord
It pays to take life seriously;
things work out when you trust in God.
Proverbs 16:20 (The Message)
He who heeds the word wisely will find good,
And whoever trusts in the LORD, happy is he.
Proverbs 16:20 (New King James Version)
Those who listen to instruction will prosper;
those who trust the Lord will be joyful.
Proverbs 16:20 (New Living Translation)
Child-like Nature
“I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 18:3 (New International Version)
“I’m telling you, once and for all, that unless you return to square one and start over like children, you’re not even going to get a look at the kingdom, let alone get in.”
Matthew 18:3 (The Message)
“I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven.”
Matthew 18:3 (New Living Translation)
You know how trust, obedience, and joyous spontaneity is present in most children? Ask God to develop a child-like nature in you. Ask him to show you the things that keep you from trust, obedience, and joyous spontaneity.

Worry and Our Relationship with God
So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.
Matthew 6:34 (New Living Translation)
Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.
Matthew 6:34 (The Message)
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Matthew 6:34 (New International Version)
Planning for tomorrow is time well spent; worrying about tomorrow is time wasted. Worriers are consumed by fear and find it difficult to trust God. They let their plans interfere with their relationship with God. Don’t let worries about tomorrow affect your relationship with God today.
Reordering Our Lives
Let’s take a good look at the way we’re living
and reorder our lives under God.
Let’s lift our hearts and hands at one and the same time,
praying to God in heaven.
Lamentations 3:40-41 (The Message)
Let us examine our ways and test them,
and let us return to the LORD.
Let us lift up our hearts and our hands
to God in heaven.
Lamentations 3:40-41 (New International Version)
Instead, let us test and examine our ways.
Let us turn back to the Lord.
Let us lift our hearts and hands
to God in heaven and say.
Lamentations 3:40-41 (New Living Translation)
